Rated by CANSTAR as Australia’s best travel money card in 2016, and again given a 5* rating in 2017, Travelex have lifted the bar even higher with the release of their premium Travel Money Card.  It’s a new and improved version of the Multi-currency Passport and now sports a new design and new features.

In my article comparing the best travel money cards in the market, the 2016 CANSTAR results really made me aware of the benefits of using a Travelex card on my future travels and with the release of the Money Card, I’m convinced this could be the way to go.

As well as the additional features the new Travelex Money Card offers, another bonus is the ease in which you can order your card online and collect it from a store convenient to you.

In Australia there are over 2,000 pick-up locations, including most Australia Post outlets.  Collections from Australia Post outlets are fee-free for orders over $2000. For orders under $2000, a $10 fee applies.

To order your Travelex Money Card (which you can do by clicking here if you are an Australian resident ), simply choose the amount of currency that you would like to load on to your card.

When foreign currency is purchased, the exchange rate is confirmed and locked in at the time of purchase so there’s no need to be worrying about fluctuating exchange rates whilst you travel.

When your card’s balance gets low, it’s easy to top up the card either via the Travelex website or via the smart phone App.  The App is also a great way to track your card’s balance and keep an eye on exchange rates.

Features of the Travelex Money Card

The new card is packed with features which include:

  • Contactless payment
  • Free WiFi
  • 24/7 global assistance
  • Emergency cash/card available if lost/stolen
  • No ATM fees*

One feature that will really appeal to travellers is access to free WiFi. After purchasing the Travelex Money Card, travellers can create an account with Boingo and receive free access to Boingo’s one million WiFi hotspots worldwide for three months (effective from 24 hours after purchasing the Money Card).  Up to four devices can be connected with a single account.

Another feature that will make using the card easier to use on your travels is the option of contactless payment.  Wherever you see the universal contactless symbol , you’ll be able to just tap your card for easier checkout.

This makes the card perfect to use when dining in restaurants or purchasing souvenirs whilst you’re out sightseeing.

Travelex’s included 24/7 global assistance will give peace of mind to travellers. Should their card be lost or stolen, emergency cash or a replacement card can be made available.

And because the Travelex Money Card is not linked to a bank account, there’s no worry that your personal bank account can be raided should the card fall into the wrong hands.

And because everyone hates paying bank fees, there are no international ATM fees* charged by Travelex for Money Card holders.
